*Swine Flu Pandemic- A Typical Violation of Mosaic Law?- (4-30-09)Yes, here we are faced with another global threat of influenza. But it is not just another flu but rather the perfect example of reaping what we sow. Simply put, if we had listened to Moses, we would not be in this mess. Granted, there have been some medical advances (e.g. replacement heart valves) that have arisen from work with pigs but raising them in large numbers for consumption- and under the conditions in which they are typically farmed- is a whole 'nother matter. The newest virology and bacterial studies will undoubtedly shed new light on their "unclean" status and show us that, although eating pork is unwise and yields its own problems, just being around them in large numbers can unleash a "legion" of plagues on mankind.

* Mercola.com Articles on Pork Consumption- Here are a few links to get you started on your research project as to whether we should be consuming pork or not. Although the authorities are claiming that H1N1 flu cannot be contracted by eating properly-cooked pork, this virus is not the only concern among people studying zoonoses (transmission of disease between species). My advice would be to stay healthy in all other regards if you are a big fan of "the other white meat." (Oh, and you might want to wash your hands well during and after the preparation of pork, remembering that it was raw when you pulled in out of the meat section.)

*Misc. Articles on Swine, Pork and Public Health Concerns- Here are a few extra articles that deal with various health issues that have been tied to swine rearing and pork consumption. Put "swine zoonosis" in your search engine. The H1N1 flu is just the tip of the iceberg.

*Fever Reducers- Medical Mischief- (Link only) This piece was inspired by the rapidly spreading Swine Flu virus and the awareness that most victims will reach for a fever reducer (NSAID) at the first sign of illness. Hopefully this article will make them think twice.

Swine Flu Pandemic- A Typical Violation of Mosaic Law?

This is not going to be a lengthy article but rather a set of links that walk the reader through a few aspects of "man-made" pandemics like the one we are currently facing in Spring of 2009- the Swine Flu pandemic.

Why do I call it "man-made"? Am I jumping on board with the conspiracy theorists who claim that this virus is a genetically-engineered mutant that has been intentionally unleashed onto the unsuspecting public in order to usher in a New World Order, dominated by the United Nations? No! (not that this scenario is totally impossible.) I've been down those rabbit holes as well but prefer to stay on task, helping those in need and focusing on improving the here-and-now rather than fretting too much over the future and who will be the next to attempt world domination.

The fact is that influenzas of this type (influenza type A) don't require man's help in the laboratory. As all of you will see, these viruses can do some very interesting things all on their own. But if man wants to weaponize these guys, he is surely capable of doing so and knows very well which viruses and bacteria to choose. Just ask some of the enemies of the United States, many of whom reside in the Middle East. (There is a good reason why so many of our service men are put on specific antibiotics before and after traveling to that region.)

But what about today's swine flu? Where does a flu virus like this come from naturally? All we have to do is read a little about the influenza A virus, antigenic drift, and antigenic shift and the answer pops right up. Then, all we need is a better understanding of swine (pigs) and why they were considered "unclean" in Old Testament times- and should still be- for us to easily see how our violation of those health food laws in the Book of Leviticus (and repeated in Deuteronomy just in case we weren't listening) leads to such events.

Here is a link to the Wikipedia page on influenza viruses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Influenza. Note the difference between influenza A viruses and those of the B and C type.

Here is the Wikipedia link to the influenza A virus specifically: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Influenza_A_virus

Here is the link to the Wikipedia article on antigenic shift: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antigenic_shift. Basically, this occurs when two or more viruses enter the same cell and exchange genetic material only to emerge as a new virus. Again, this does not require a mad scientist in the laboratory operated by an enemy of state.

Here is Wikepedia page on antigenic drift, a lesser mutation of a virus but a very important one nonetheless: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antigenic_drift

Now, here are the CDC fact sheets for the swine flu, including the one (first) with updated information on the current pandemic strain. But as I read these frequently asked questions, I can't help but think of where we would be if we never chose pork as a major food source. (It's a really interesting story of how we went from pork being forbidden in the Old Testament to serving ham on Easter. We're all such "Nimrods" for doing this.)

Now you know a few of the things that viruses are capable of once they enter the cells of their host. Interesting, huh? Yes, it is a bit scary but viruses are important in nature and serve purposes in our body. It is not until we violate natural laws that they become serious threats. This is same for their partners, the intracellular bacteria.

Granted, there are serious pathogens afoot but they have arisen for good reason. They are the masters of adaptation, as the articles above have shown. And these viruses and bacteria do often migrate from one species to another. There are many examples of this, including Swine Flu, Avian Flu, Rabies, West Nile Virus, Equine Encephalitis, plague, leprosy, and leukemia.

"Wait, wait! What was that last one again???" I threw that one in to make sure you were paying attention. Some of you have read elsewhere on the site the references I have made to Dr. Frank Oski's book, Don't Drink Your Milk. In his book, this past Chief of Pediatrics of Johns Hopkins University links cow milk to a multitude of human diseases and disorders. It is available on Amazon.com. In one of the final chapters, titled "Beware the Cow", Dr. Oski reports that a Lancet article (the "New England Journal of Medicine of the UK") bearing that name described how chimpanzees- who do not suffer from leukemia in nature- contracted and died from leukemia after being fed cow milk known to be infected with the bovine leukemia virus. Uh oh. He went on to discuss epidemiological and demographic evidence that supported this finding.

One of the main points of this article is for the reader to gain a new respect for the virus. Hopefully laboratory scientists who are working on food GMO's and vaccinations are also paying attention. We know a lot about viruses and intracellular bacteria. In fact, researchers know much more than the average lay person or doctor knows that they know. But those in research clearly don't yet grasp the full capabilities of these tiny little entities. As you can see from the links above, the possibilities seem endless for what viruses and their "cell mates"- the intracellular bacteria- can do.

The really cool thing is that the solution to our preventing these outbreaks and laboratory mistakes is really common sense and starts with a set of health laws written in the oldest "owner's manual" known to man. Did you know that there is an entire chapter of Leviticus dedicated to dealing with scabs? (Chapter 13)
But the chapters I love deal with the health food laws, which are timeless. It was not all about the creation of laws just to see who could be righteous. These Mosaic food laws found in Leviticus 11 were given to the Israelites to keep them health. They knew nothing of viruses, bacteria, red tide, Vibrio coli, and antigenic shifts. So, they were given specific regulations which helped them to avoid those dangers that would not be illuminated for millennia.

Keep that in mind as you peruse these laws found on this link: http://www.enduringword.com/commentaries/0311.htm

It's pretty easy to see why they were told to avoid certain animals, isn't it? They had to avoid the scavengers (e.g. swine), the predators (e.g. lions, tigers, and birds of prey), and the filters of the waters (e.g. shellfish). As we are prone to say, "God knows what's in those things". Uh huh. Are you now thinking about antigenic shift?

A few Christians have responded to this section by saying that those food laws changed in the New Testament. Sadly, that is not really true. Matthew 5:18 says " For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Once again, the healthful nature of those food laws is timeless. Thankfully, it was the eternal consequences of violating those laws that changed. 1 Corinthians 6:12 says: "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."

So, all things are "lawful" (non-punishable by the law) but not all things are expedient (useful, healthful, wise). In other words, you can still go to Heaven for eating an oyster or consuming pork, but...you might just go there a little sooner than expected.

I hope this helps,

Dogtor J

PS. From the links below, the reader will see that it is not just about eating these "forbidden" foods. I do not want to fan the flames of the swine flu hysteria by making anyone believe that eating pork can lead to swine flu. Although a better understanding of viruses would make anyone question whether this could ever happen, properly cooked pork currently appears to be no threat when it comes to contracting Swine Flu. But what about handling it before hand? And are there other entities in the pork that could be an issue? Did we learn nothing from Mad Cow Disease???

These questions are not meant to be a scare tactic but rather a stimulus for people to do their homework. The healthful nature of the Mosaic foods laws are as valid today as they were back then, even more so when we consider environmental pollution. What creatures in the ocean would harbor the most pollutants...the filters?

For more articles, the reader can do a search for "swine zoonosis" or "swine zoonoses" (with that term referring to diseases transmitted from animals to man). You will find numerous articles that discuss the health risks of being in close quarters with pigs. Granted, most of these conditions are not an obvious problem when it comes to the consumption of pork, but I am a believer in things "seen" being a big clue about the things "unseen". Trichinosis is one such thing.

I hope you enjoyed your time here and got something important from your stay. It is my goal to help all of mankind navigate through the jungle of medical information now available on the Internet and find the truth about the origins of what we call "disease" as well as discover the natural solutions for these conditions.

We do have our health's destiny in our own hands more than we've ever imagined, certainly more than most have ever been told. Think naturally and the answer will come.

would still like to hear from you personally, though.

I used to have a nice little form in this space that would allow readers to send me a quick comment or testimonial. Unfortunately, as the Interent goes, I started getting 50-100 junk emails through this form and had to remove it.

So, until the new Website is up and running (soon!), I will have to ask people to formulate an Email of their own and send it. I do want to hear from you so I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to do this.

Simply title your Email "Visitor Comment" and include your name, occupationcomment/testimonial and return Email address (if you want to be contacted) and send it to:
